NOW STREAMING

You can now watch, gift, or organize a screening of ‘Dark and Tender’ and its sequel ‘Dark and Tender: The Big Island’.

These short and powerful documentaries follow the Chronically UnderTouched (CUT) Project as they shake off violent narratives of Black masculinity and seek to restore the vital aspects of touch and connection.

Aaron Johnson’s powerful short film follows ten Black men on a transformative retreat with the CUT Project outside Seattle, Washington. The men seek to reclaim platonic intimacy through encounters with nature and depictions of gentle Black masculinity.

In the second chapter of ‘Dark and Tender’, the CUT Project journies to Hawaii to workshop their practices. Part cinéma vérité, part elucidated teaching, the film slows down with the men as they reclaim and rebuild platonic intimacy and trust.
